Sister M. Madeleine Bódis
“All things work for good for those who love God.” (Rom 8:28)
With a painful heart and yet accepting God’s will, we announce that the Lord
called
Sister M. Madeleine
Margita Bódis
To Himself on December 14, 2023 at the age of 93 and the 57th year of her profession.
Sister Madeleine was born in Jászárokszállási, to a family with six children. Her parents were peasants.
Their religious example helped her to make the decision to enter the consecrated life at a young age.
At the age of 18, with her five friends she entered our Motherhouse in Sopron.
Soon after she was invested. With enthusiasm she attended
and successfully graduated at the Nursing School in Budapest.
In 1950, at the time of seizure, she began to practice her nurse’s skill at the Szent István Hospital.
A year later, she was hired at Six-days Institute for children under the age of three, in Budapest.
She worked there for a long time while attending school to became a pediatric nurse.
During the time of abolition of Religious Orders she kept in contact with the Superiors
and the Sisters; she met them often but not publicly.
In 1980, when she was transferred to Ipolytölgyes-Letkés,
she received the Religion Teacher’s Diploma after two years of studies. In 1993,
when the political situation changed, she moved to our Community at Horánszky Street, for a short time,
and was entrusted with small tasks where at St. Anne’s Collegium.
Later also she visited the community and kept in touch with the Sisters.
For a long time she served as a sacristan and a teacher
of Religious in the Church of Our Lady of Snows in “Christina” (suburb of Budín).
Since she took care of her sick sister, she lived outside of the community faithfully living her consecrated life.
In October 2023 she became ill and on October 17th
she moved to Nagyboldogasszony House where she found a home by our Sisters.
Let us keep a remembrance of our Sister in our hearts, her sacrificial example and prayerful life.
May she rest in peace.
