Sister M. Boromea Pribulová

For I am convinced that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, no principalities,
nor present things, nor future things,
nor powers, no height, nor depths,
nor any other creature will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rom 8:38-39

In the Spirit of Christian hope, we announce that
Sr. M. Boromea – Mária Pribulová
Handed her life to her Creator on August 28, 2024
at the age of 94 and the 75th year of her Profession.

Sister Boromea was born on March 29, 1931, in Vyšné Raslavice (Slovakia)
to her parents Štefan and Veronika Pribula. She was the eldest child.
Two other siblings were born: brother František and sister Magdalena.
She attended school in her native village.

At the age of 16, she entered the convent in Spišská Nová Ves
and attended High School.
In August, 1948, she began her Novitiate in Levoča and In August, 1949,
she made her First Profession, also in Levoča.

The following school year, 1949/1950, she worked in the Kindergarten in Spišká Nová Ves,
however, the political interests of the state overtook her on August 29, 1950,
to a concentration camp in Spišská Nová Ves. As for all Religious in Slovakia,
there was a period of uncertainty and submission to totalitarian regime for her.
In the summer, she worked in the fields
and in winter she sewed for the Clothing Factory in Prešov.
In October, 1951, she and other Sisters were taken
to the factories in Benešov nad Ploučnici (Czech Republic),
where they worked in cotton mills “Benar”.
They lived in Františkov nad Ploučnici,
where Sr. Boromea made her Final Profession in 1956.

In March, 1958, the Sisters were moved to Velehrad,
where Sisters cared for physically and mentally ill people.
Sr. Boromea loved this work because it was a work in the spirit of our charism.
She worked there for 32 years. Then the Superiors moved her to Vrícko,
then back to Velehrad, then Spišská Nová Ves
and the last 11 years she lived in the community Raslavice,
her native village.

In recent years, the Lord called her to the school of suffering
which she bore with love, in prayers and wholeheartedly.

We thank our fellow Sister Boromea for her life in our Congregation.
She was an example for us, our help and model.
May the Lord grant her eternal happiness.

May she rest in peace!

We recommend the soul of our deceased Sister
to the prayers of the Sisters and all believers.
