Sister M. Kinga Balogh

“I have waited,
Waited for the Lord,
and He stooped toward me.”
(Psalm 40:2)
With sorrow, but accepting God’s will, we announce that our Redeemer called
from this earthly life our
Sister M. Kinga, Izabella Balogh
On February 24, 2026, at the age of 88 and the 58th year of her Profession.
Sister Kinga was born on July 8, 1938, in Lövő, Sopron County, Hungary,
in believing family of four children. She attended the elementary school in Lövő,
then she continued her education in Sopron, first at the Vocational School
for Business Administration and subsequently at the preparatory school for drawing.
From 1959 to 1964 she studied at the University of Applied Arts in Budapest,
where she graduated as a “decorative painter, restorer, artist”.
On April 4, 1965, she came to Rome to continue in her study
and there she entered our Congregation in 1966.
She completed her first novitiate year in Rome, then she spent the second year
in the house of our Austrian Sisters in Eisenstadt. On December 8, 1968,
she made her First Profession in Eisenstadt and her Final Profession
on December 8, 1973, in Linz.
From 1969 to 1983, she worked as an art teacher and educator at
a Hungarian grammar school in Burg Kastl, Germany,
where she taught Hungarian students, emigrants. On July 30, 1983,
she returned to Rome, the Pilgrim House “Villa Mater Redemptoris” where she lived
and worked until her death. As the Local Superior,
she led the community for 15 years with gentleness and wisdom.
Sr. Kinga’s life was a true testament to her faithfulness to God and her selfless service.
We all delighted in her endearing smile, kindness, radiant zest for life,
and cheerful stories. Her gentle, devout soul was reflected
in the icons she created with prayer and engineering precision.
In the hope of resurrection, her mortal remains will later be buried in the crypt
of St. Gellért Church in Budapest (Kelenföld).
May she rest in God's peace! Her memory will live in our hearts forever!
