Sister M. Bonfília Stanková

In the spirit of Christian hope for resurrection, we announce that

Sister M. Bonfília – Magdaléna Stanková

returned her life to her Creator on March 27, 2024
in Vrícko, Slovakia, at the age of 93 and the 74th year of her Profession.

Sister Bonfília was born on May 7, 1931, in Iliašovce.
Her parents, Ján and Mária, had seven children.
Sr. Bonfília was the oldest. She was 14 years old when her mother died.

At the age of 15, she entered the Convent in Spišská Nová Ves.
For one year, she attended school in Levoča, then after two years,
she graduated from the Family School in Spišská Nová Ves.  

She entered the Novitiate in 1949, in Levoča.
She made her First Profession in 1950, in Rožňava.
Her first assignment was the Hospital in Košice.
There she worked as a dietary assistant.
After forced departure of the Religious Sisters from hospitals, she was transferred to Velehrad,
where she made her Final Profession in 1960.
She worked in the Institute for the Mentally and Physically Ill
as a cook and she studied at the Nutrition School.
After twelve years she was transferred to Caritas Home in Hronský Beňadik,
where she worked 19 years in the kitchen.

Sr. Bonfília was always happy and hardworking.
As a retired Sister, she was entrusted
with housekeeping at Redemptorist Fathers in Staré Hory for 15 years.
She always showed respect to priests, prayed for them and selflessly served them.
From 2005 – 2010 she lived with the Sisters in the community in Spišské Vlachy,
then she was transferred to Vrícko, where she lived her last years of life.  

The soul of our deceased Sister we recommend to the prayers
of the Sisters and believing God's people.
