Sister M. Lamberta Sobeková

“My Mother, my hope, Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for us.”

In the spirit of Christian hope of the resurrection, we announce that

Sister M. Lamberta – Mária Sobeková
Handed her life to the Creator on March 18, 2022,
at the age of 98 and 76th year of her Profession.

Sister Lamberta was born on February 11, 1925,
in Bardejovská Nová Ves, Region Bardejov, in Slovakia.
There she attended primary school and there she also graduated.
She had three siblings.

At the age of 16, she decided to consecrate her life
and she became our candidate.
On August 20, 1944, she began the Novitiate, in Raslavice.
She made her First Profession on August 18, 1944, in Levoča.
She made her Final Profession on August 21, 1954, in Košice.

From 1945 to 1958, her apostolate was in the State Hospital in Košice,
where she worked as a nurse.
In 1958, because the totalitarian regime, with all religious women,
she had to forcibly leave the hospital and was interned.
Sister Lamberta was interned in Podolínec (1958-1961) and then,
Slovenská Ľupča (1961-1969).
There, she did various agricultural work on state property or domestic work.
In 1969, she was transferred to the Caritas House in Hronský Beňadik,
where she lovingly took care of our elderly and sick Sisters.
In November 1989, when the construction of the Charity House in Vrícko
was completed, Sister Lamberta, as a pensioner, moved to Vrícko,
where she lived the autumn of her life.

Sister Lamberat’s long life wasn’t easy. She was one of those religious women,
who lived under the totalitarian regime and whose life could not develop in outward liberty.
However, Sister Lamberta still maintained a spirit of service,
a smile, and an openness.

We thank our Sister Lamberta for her silent and selfless service
and the spirit of prayer, which she did not stop. May she rest in peace.

Farewell for the deceased Sister Lamberta will be held on Tuesday,
March 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Holy Mass in St. Bartholomew Church,
in Vrícko. After Mass, her remains will be buried
in the local cemetery for a temporary rest.

The soul of our deceased Sister we recommend to the prayers
of the Sisters and believers of God's people.
