Sister M. Tadea Baňasová

“The time of my departure is at hand.
I have competed well; I have finished the race;
I have kept the faith. From now on the crown
of righteousness awaits me.”
(2 Tim 4:6 – 8)
In the spirit of Christian hope, we announce that
Sister M. Tadea – Anna Baňasová
Handed her life to the Creator on October 27, 2025,
At the age of 60 and the 37th year of Religious Profession.
Sister Tadea, Anna Baňasová, was born on January 12, 1965, in Sobrance (Slovakia),
where she also was baptized on January 24th. She had four siblings: two older sisters:
Ľudmila and Mária and two younger brothers: Štefan and Radoslav.
They lived with their parents in Vyšne Nemecke.
She attended elementary and middle schools in nearby village Krčava.
She attended high school vocational training in Strážske.
After graduation she worked in the Bast Textile Factories in Revuca.
In 1986, she decided to consecrate her life to God. After a year as a candidate
of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer, she went to work in the Hospital in Topoľčany
as a nurse-aide at the surgical department, where
the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer worked.
She became a Novice in March 1987, in Straník, which happened secretly
due to the unfavorable political situation. She received her religious
name Sister Mária Tadea. In March 1989, she made her First Profession in Vrícko.
In 1990, when the religious freedom was established, she and other Sisters
received their religious habits. Since then, Sister Tadea could work in the Topoľčany
Hospital with her fellow Sisters
at the internal medicine department dressed in the religious habit.
In June 1994, she graduated from the Nursing school in Nitra.
Later, she expanded her studies and earned a master's degree
at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Catholic University in Ružomberok.
From 1997-2003, as a nurse, she worked in the Institute
for Physically and Mentally Ill in Rohov. She loved the sick people,
her fellow Sisters and the community. She was creative and she spread love
everywhere she went. In this community she became the local Superior,
where she accompanied the Sisters with an open heart and joy.
In August 2003, she moved to the community in Spišske Vlachy, where she worked
as a nurse in the Caritas, which provided Home Care and cared
for the sick in their homes. Shortly after, in June 2004, she went to America,
where she helped to our Sisters in the American Region. In April 2007,
she returned to Slovakia to the community in Vrícko. She took care of our elderly
and sick Sisters. In 2011, she lived with the Sisters in the community in Košice,
where she worked in Highly Specialized Geriatric Institute of St. Luke.
She was an unforgettable gift for the Sisters as well as for colleagues and patients.
Through her selfless service, carried out with great love and joy,
she spread the charisma of Blessed Alphonse Marie.
She cared not only for sick bodies, but also for souls.
Sister Tadea loved to serve the sick. She saw in them Christ Himself.
With her joyful courage and enthusiasm, she brought hope even where
it was difficult to find. She also saw the health problems of her loved ones,
which did not leave her indifferent. So, with the permission of her Superiors,
she went to help her relatives, where, the Lord of life, unexpectedly called her
to Himself on October 27, 2025.
Eternal rest grant her, O Lord, and perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.
The farewell with the deceased Sister will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025,
with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of Assumption,
in Spišska Nova Ves.
Burial will follow in the new cemetery.
The soul of our deceased Sister we recommend to prayers
of the Sisters and God’s people.
Sisters of the Divine Redeemer, Spišská Nová Ves
