Sister M. Hyacinta Halaj

“My God, Eternal Father, into Your holy hands I commend my soul,
Be my merciful Judge, receive me into Your Kingdom..."

With a sorrow in our hearts, but accepting God's will,
we would like to inform you that the Lord called to Himself

Sister M. Hyacinta Halaj

on February 17, 2022, in the Mercy Brothers Hospital, in Budapest
at the age of 92, and the 37th year of her Religious Profession.

Sister Hyacinta was born on October 4, 1930, in the Hungarian village of Érsekvadker,
into a simple, believing family with 4 children. Her parents were peasants.
She entered into convent along with her older sister, Sister Amáta.
They were Sisters, who gave us an example by their silent and prayerful lives,
and later by accepting sufferings in their illness.

From the age of 14, Sister Hyacinta made preparation
to be like her mother’s friend, our Sister Priszka.

After graduation from eight grade,
she studied nursing for two years and
received the certificate of pediatric nurse.

She began working in the Pediatric Hospital of Paul Heim, in Budapest.
Later, she worked for 30 years in the Hematology Department,
devoting herself to the children with cancer.

She spent her retirement taking care of her aging mother.
They lived together with her sister, Sister Amáta in Budapest.

On May 30, 1997, both, she and Sister Amáta
moved to the House for the elderly Sisters, in Piliscsaba.
They were grateful and joyful that they could again belong to the Community
and continue to live a religious life.
